Many years ago, I was standing with a friend in the Mudorib river … In the morning we had seen desert adapted elephants in the sand dunes of the Namib and now here in the afternoon, there is a black rhino cow and her calf feeding in front of us
– and I asked myself if our grandchildren would ever have the opportunity to see this with their own eyes?
Then it became clear to me; I would love to share this part of Africa with others, before it loses its individuality!
Whether it is the black Rhinos, Lions and Elephants in the Namib desert, Mountain Gorillas in Uganda, Lowland Gorillas in the Kongo or the Okavango Delta in Botswana. You should experience and see this before it is to late!!

CHILDREN IN THE WILDERNESS
Children in the Wilderness (CITW) is a non-profit organization
supported by ecotourism company Wilderness Safaris to facilitate sustainable conservation through leadership development and education of rural children in Africa.
If we are to ensure that these places continue to exist – in this generation and those to come – we need the rural children of Africa to understand the importance of conservation and its relevance in their lives.
Hence, our Children in the Wilderness program:
an environmental and life skills educational program for children, focusing on the next generation of decision-makers - inspiring them to care for their natural heritage and to become the custodians of these areas in the future. By exposing children to their natural heritage, Children in the Wilderness aims to create a network of learning sanctuaries that uplifts and cares for our children and conserves our planet.
In this way, we hope to inspire the children to care for the environment so that they can become the custodians of these areas in the future.
DESERT LION CONSERVATION
Desert Lion Conservation, or the “Desert Lion Project”, as it is often referred to is a small non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of desert- adapted Lions in the Northern Namib.
Our main focus is to collect important base-line ecological data on the lion population and to study their behavior, biology and adaptation to survive in the harsh environment.
We then use this information to collaborate with other conservation bodies in the quest to find a solution to human-lion conflict, to elevate the tourism value of Lions, and to contribute to the conservation of the species.
TOSCO - Tourism Supporting Conservation
TOSCO Trust is a non-profit organization linking the tourism industry to local people, conservation organizations and research.
By supporting conservation projects and local people who share their land with wildlife, TOSCO Trust contributes to safeguarding Namibia’s natural assets.
Therefore, TOSCO also engages in promoting responsible tourism in Namibia.
Whether being a concerned individual, traveler or tourism professional, we all have an interest in Namibia’s people, places and wildlife.
